Privacy Policy
What Enclave keeps on your Mac, what it sends, and to whom.
Effective 24 October 2026
The short version. Enclave has no accounts, no analytics and no server of its own. Everything you do in it stays on your Mac. When a feature you turn on needs something from the internet (the weather, lyrics, album art, a license check), Enclave asks that service directly and sends only what the request needs. We never sell or share your data.
Who we are
Enclave is a macOS app sold by its developer (“we”, “us”). Questions about this policy or your data: enclavesupport@icloud.com.
What stays on your Mac
These are stored only on your Mac and are never sent to us:
- Notes, to-dos, voice notes, interview scripts, countdowns and habits. Voice notes are transcribed on your Mac; the audio isn't saved.
- Clipboard history is kept in memory only, and is gone when Enclave quits. Items that password managers mark as private are skipped.
- Face unlock. Your face is turned into encrypted numbers, stored on your Mac. Your Mac password is stored in your Keychain, readable only by Enclave on this Mac. Photos of unlock attempts are kept only if you turn on Attempt photos.
- Calendar, Reminders and Contacts are read through macOS to show your next meeting, your to-dos and who's calling.
- Notification counts are read from the badges on your Dock icons. Enclave never reads the notifications themselves.
- Sound. When the playing bars follow the beat, Enclave measures what your Mac is playing in real time. Nothing is recorded.
- Crash and hang reports from macOS are saved on your Mac. They're sent only if you attach them to a support email yourself.
- Settings are stored on your Mac.
What Enclave sends, and to whom
Each service below is contacted directly from your Mac, and only when you use the feature. Each one also sees your IP address, as any website does. Their own privacy policies apply to what they receive.
| Feature | Sent to | What's sent |
|---|---|---|
| Weather | Open-Meteo; Apple | Your approximate location (about 1 km) to Open-Meteo for the forecast, and to Apple to name your town. |
| Album art | Apple (iTunes Search) | The artist and title of the song that's playing. |
| Lyrics | LRCLIB | The artist, title, album and length of the song that's playing. |
| Song ID | Apple (Shazam) | A few seconds of audio from the microphone, turned into an audio signature on your Mac, only when you ask Enclave to identify a song. |
| Parcel tracking | 17TRACK | The tracking numbers you add, with your own 17TRACK API key. |
| Sports scores | ESPN | The leagues and teams you follow. |
| Markets | Yahoo Finance | The symbols you follow. |
| Currency rates | European Central Bank | A request for the day's reference rates. Nothing about you. |
| YouTube | YouTube (Google) | The videos you watch, in YouTube's own player, under YouTube's terms. |
| AI Assistant | The AI service you choose | The text you ask about. With Apple Intelligence, this stays on your Mac. With another service (such as OpenAI, Anthropic or Google), your question goes straight to that service with your own API key. A screen is captured only when you choose Capture Screen; the image is read on your Mac and deleted. |
| Updates | GitHub | A request for the latest Enclave version, about once a day if automatic checks are on. |
| License | Polar | Your license key and your Mac's name, so you can see which Mac uses it. Checked again every few weeks. |
| Sync between Macs | Apple (iCloud Drive) | If you turn it on: your notes, to-dos and, if you choose, settings, in a file in your iCloud Drive. |
Buying Enclave Pro
Payments are handled by Polar, our merchant of record. Polar collects your name, email address and payment details to process the purchase, handle tax and send your receipt and license key. We see your purchase and email address in Polar so we can help with your license; we never see your full card details.
Support emails
If you email us, we receive your message, your email address and the Enclave and macOS versions the app adds to the email. We use these only to help you, and delete them when they're no longer needed.
What we don't do
- No analytics, tracking or advertising, and no third-party SDKs that do.
- No accounts, and no server of our own that receives your data.
- We don't sell, rent or share your personal information.
Your choices
- Each feature above can be turned off in Enclave's Settings, and each macOS permission can be withdrawn in System Settings → Privacy & Security.
- Settings → About → Uninstall Enclave frees your license, deletes Enclave's Keychain items (Face unlock, API keys) and moves the app and all its files to the Trash.
- To see or delete your purchase records, use the Polar customer portal or email us. Depending on where you live (for example, in the EU, UK or California), you may have the right to access, correct or delete your personal data; email us and we'll help.
Children
Enclave isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their personal information.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be published here and in the app, with a new effective date.
